Music Monday: Coheed and Cambria (aka Best Band Ever) Edition~

Coheed and Cambria

So.Β  It has been (quite) awhile since I have posted anything (Oopsy)…so I decided that for this Music Monday I will dedicate it to my favorite band of all time…Coheed and Cambria. I have loved this band since they went from being Shabutie to Coheed and Cambria back in 2001. Though I did like them as Shabutie. They decided to change things around a bit and then became a concept band (songs/albums based off the Coheed and Cambria comics created by lead singer Claudio Sanchez). Anywho, they are MOST known (especially by those with little ‘heed knowledge) for their song “Welcome Home”, which can be found on one of the Rock Bands if you so wish to play. I also believe they have their own DLC for Rock Band…side note. They’re one of the few legit progressive rock bands in my opinion, trying not to be TOO biased here πŸ˜› Regardless, I have seen them on a few occasions and they have always put on a stellar show. They’ve toured with some other bands that I enjoy too…Avenged Sevenfold, Hell Yeah, Iron Maiden…to name a few. They are doing a show on May 11th in Illinois and I am SO SO SO SO there. I already got my ticket and I’m rearing to go. I haven’t seen them in two years since they did their “Year of the Black Rainbow” tour. So, I’m ready to have my mind absolutely B L O W N and be surrounded by other people who have excellent taste in music. I generally end up making friends at these events lol I think I will use my relatively new Coheed and Cambria tattoo as a conversation piece πŸ˜› We’ll see. I only wish they were coming back to Lollapalooza this year since I am actually going (I missed them last time…bah :/).

~Instead of putting Welcome Home as the video I was going to post…I thought that would be too obvious. SO, Instead I’ll put my favorite song and then another one for balance. Enjoy~

30 Day Music Challenge Days: 23 and 24

Aaaaaaaand here we go.

Day 1-22

Day 23 – A song that you want to play at your wedding

Heh, that’s pretty easy. I’d LOVE to have “Pearl of the Stars” by Coheed and Cambria played at my wedding. Actually, I’d rather have Coheed and Cambria just play at my wedding. I think I might die though…too much adrenaline πŸ˜› It’s a romantic song, but still Coheed-esque. It’s a bit different than some of the other songs they usually make, but it’s a nice switch up. It would be sweet :)…perhaps that’s what I’ll do when I do get married lol we’ll see.

Day 24 – A song that you want to play at your funeral

I took a bit of time to think about this one. I like a lot of songs and a lot of them WOULD be appropriate for a funeral…but this one I think would be pretty damn fucking awesome. I’d have them play “Enter Sandman” by Metallica. It’s a fucking rock classic, an anthem…great song. I mean you can’t deny the sheer awesome-ness of this classic Metallica song. I think it would be a great song to play…I mean shit, I’m dead so I might as well be put in the ground to Metallica πŸ˜›

Feel free to comment and let me know what songs YOU would want at your own wedding and/or funeral. I’m interested to see what others would want. πŸ˜›

30 Day Music Challenge: Day 19 and 20. (Catch Up!)

I’m a day behind. My bad. πŸ˜›

Day 1-18

Day 19 – A song from your favorite album

– A song from my favorite album? Well, I guess I have to go back to Coheed and Cambria πŸ˜› Nobody else would dare make this list other than them. My favorite album by them would be Year of the Black Rainbow mainly because I pretty much adore every single song…though I guess that’s the same with any album by them πŸ˜› One of my favorite songs from that album is “The Broken”. Β It’s so bad ass and sinister and just…fucking amazing. I love how it sounds and the dark undertones to it. It’s one of the songs that I think it a bit less noticed on the album compared to some others , “Here we are Juggernaut”, “Guns of Summer” etc. I’ll link it at the end of the post.

Day 20 – A song that you listen to when you’re angry

-Oh this one is easy. If I’m angry I listen to “Rocket” Skates” by the Deftones. Actually, I listen to it when I’m in a fantastic mood but still…But yeah. It’s a very ‘angry’ andΒ exhilaratingΒ typeΒ song. It’s a song I live by, somewhat. I love the chorus “Guns, razors, knives. Fuck with me”. It really gets me going and I feel better afterwards. It’s a damn good old hard bad ass song. One of those songs you can’t help but head bang and get into. I thank Deftones for this. I’ll link this one as well.

30 Day Music Challenge Day 11!

  • Day 01 – Your favorite song
  • Day 02 – Your least favorite song

  • Day 03 – A song that makes you happy

  • Day 04 – A song that makes you sad

  • Day 05 – A song that reminds you of someone

  • Day 06 – A song that reminds you of somewhere

  • Day 07 – A song that reminds you of a certain event

  • Day 08 – A song that you know all the words to

  • Day 09 – A song that you can dance to

  • Day 10 – A song that makes you fall asleep
  • Day 11 – A song from your favorite band

This is easy…since Coheed and Cambria is my favorite band (clearly). I try to have some taste in music…I could listen to some lame wannabe band. I already used my favorite song on a previous post, so I’ll use my second favorite song by C&C. That would be the super sinister, “Chamberlain”. It’s from their latest album (next part of the saga), Year of the Black Rainbow…which is my second favorite album of theirs…right after No World for Tomorrow πŸ™‚ This song is fucking amazing. It’s as I said before S I N I S T E R. The way it sounds, the lyrics and the sexy bass. I can’t begin to describe how much I love it πŸ™‚ I mean I could, but I could go on for days. Either way, it’s delicious πŸ˜› This song pwns your favorite song. Be aware. And as always, the Video…but I feel like the lyrics are worth looking at.

Worlds are burning out to the endless shame of this mistaken way
We wither on and on in this game we play
Go ring on the bells of war and head straight into the lion’s cage
You went and told your secrets here

So you can take to the grave
cause there is no stopping me, so long
Lungs hang in this dead man’s curtain
Believe in me cause I won’t believe in this

The end is now starting
oh, so please just take your seat
and live your last moments waving goodbye, desperately
Having a nice day while we’re
swinging from gallows perched atop
Fool sit still, watch them, please take your number

Spill on through killing fields, the blood of desperate men can change
The thirst of a boy who breathes again

So you can take to the grave
but there is no stopping me
Lungs hang in this dead man’s curtain
Believe in me cause I have been holding you back

The end is now starting
oh, so please just take your seat
and live your last moments waving goodbye, desperately
Having a nice day while we’re
swinging from gallows perched atop
Fool sit still, watch them, please take your number

There is no room for words against them now
Cause you’re my guiding light, they couldn’t make a sound
Is there a way to say, to incriminate, oh, listen to me
Oh, well baby, open that door

So you can take to the grave
cause there is no stopping me, so long
Lungs hang in this dead man’s curtain
Believe in me as I won’t believe in this

The end is now starting
oh, so please just take your seat
and live your last moments waving goodbye, desperately
Having a nice day while we’re
swinging from gallows perched atop
Fool sit still, watch them, please take your number

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Halle–

  • Day 02 – Your least favorite song
  • Day 03 – A song that makes you happy
  • Day 04 – A song that makes you sad
  • Day 05 – A song that reminds you of someone

  • Day 08 – A song that you know all the words to
  • Day 09 – A song that you can dance to
  • Day 10 – A song that makes you fall asleep

There’s a handful of songs that can make me fall asleep…because it’s so soothing. I suppose I’ll go with ‘Keeping the Blade’ from Coheed and Cambria. It’s a beautifully soft instrumental…I love string instruments. It’s a short and lyric-less song but it’s very sad and makes me feel peaceful (somehow)…and I can go right to sleep afterwards…maybe.
